Marilyn
Wheeler is an artist specializing in portrait and figure
painting. An early interest in drawing people led her to art
classes in Wisconsin and later in Chicago. She studied painting
in San Francisco in the studio of portrait and impressionist artist,
Jean Henry. Working with live models, she learned color
relationships and painting techniques in oil, pastel and
charcoal. She has studied art history and traveled to the world's
great art museums to learn from the masters -- Velasquez, Rembrandt,
Degas and Sargent.
Using traditional methods and the finest materials, Ms. Wheeler has
produced numerous commissioned portraits for over twenty years.
She paints from both live settings and photographs, looking for the
gestures and expressions that reflect the subject's personality.
Her goal is to create a work of timeless beauty that will also have
appeal and value for future generations.
